Installation Steps

1

Download the extension as a ZIP archive.

2

Extract ZIP to Folder

Unzip the downloaded file to create a folder. You should see these files inside:

📁 OfflineTools-extension/
├── manifest.json
├── recorder.html
├── recorder.js
├── recorder.css
├── content.js
├── background.js
├── popup.html
└── popup.js
3

Open Chrome Extensions

Type this URL in Chrome's address bar:

chrome://extensions
4

Enable Developer Mode

Toggle "Developer mode" switch in the top-right corner of the extensions page.

5

Load Unpacked Extension

Click "Load unpacked" button, then:

IMPORTANT: Navigate to and select the extracted FOLDER(the one containing manifest.json), NOT the ZIP file!

Done!

The extension is installed! Right-click any selected text to create tasks, notes or bookmarks. Use Open Mool Recorder from the extension popup, then view recordings at /mool.

Troubleshooting

"Manifest file is missing or unreadable"

Make sure you selected the folder containing manifest.json, not the ZIP file itself.

Context menu not appearing?

Select some text first, then right-click. The OfflineTools options appear only when text is selected.

Recording widget not appearing?

Start recording from Open Mool Recorder. The widget appears only while Mool is actively recording.

Using Firefox or Safari?

This extension is Chrome/Edge only. Quick Capture won't work, but you can use the built-in "Float" (PiP) button in the recorder.
